My husband and I moved to Horseheads in 2009. One of the reasons - TopicsExpress

My husband and I moved to Horseheads in 2009. One of the reasons was that we liked the hometown feel of this community. My husband had lived here previously and we were always impressed with the community spirit and friendliness of everyone we met. In our neighborhood, people still smile and wave as we pass by, and we know many of them, even though we are relatively newcomers. We have also gotten to know many other members of this community, including business owners, and consider them our friends. My name is unimportant, as I am merely a cog in a wheel of many who share the feeling that part of what makes a community is how it cares for the most vulnerable in that community. To speak for those who cannot speak for themselves is a passion of mine. I am a member of the Justice for the Innocent group that appears in court for all animal cruelty cases, I am a volunteer at the Horseheads Animal Shelter, and I am the coordinator for scheduling clinics for SNAP ( a low cost Spay and Neuter assistance program), and have worked in the clinics, as have many of the Horseheads volunteers. However, I believe that if you are an elected official, you have certain obligations to your constituents, those that have elected you should be heard and respected. If you do things the right way, you should be applauded, but if this is not true, you should have your feet held to the flame of public opinion, and be accountable for your actions. This page was started to get the issue out in the open, and shed the light of reason and understanding upon it. I know from recent events that this community wants to know the truth about what is happening, the whole story, out in the open, nothing behind closed doors and wants a say in the outcome. Not too much to ask, is it?
