My husband found out that our friends Miguel and Rosa have been feeding their next door neighbors dogs. Apparently the neighbor disappeared and Miguel and Rosa started feeding them a couple weeks ago when they realized the neighbor wasnt there and the dogs were starving. We took some food to the dogs today, and cut a blanket in half so each would have something to help keep them warm -- supposed to be 18 degrees tonight. A couple of female pit bulls, as hungry for affection as they are for food. Havent made the trek to Wal-mart in a while, been buying dog food in the closest town, and my dogs dont like the food. Since Rosa was going to Wal-mart I gave her $20 to get me a bag of the food my dogs like, and we will give this other food to her neighbors dogs. In a county where there is no organization that rescues animals, it is up to neighbors to save starving animals. Kudos to Miguel and Rosa for stepping in. When my next door neighbor had starving dogs, I was the only one feeding them, so it is wonderful to know that people like Miguel and Rosa are there to do the right thing.
