My husband has Lewy Body dementia. We returned last week from three weeks overseas, including a 14 night European River cruise. While we had some magical moments, the overall experience was extremely stressful. This was planned before my husbands diagnosis and, while I had some serious reservations prior to departure, he was adamant that he would be able to manage. The original plan included an additional two weeks visiting family in the UK but this part of the trip had to be aborted. It simply wasnt feasible to continue. In fact, I was packed and ready to leave the cruise on day 8. It was only that we were unable to arrange a flight out of Nuremberg at the height of the European summer that was the catalyst for us continuing the cruise. It is obvious that my husbands flying days are over and any travel we undertake form now on will need to be by car so that if things unravel we can return home without any complications.
