My inadvertent contribution to the Texas holiday music canon: 5 years ago, I asked Hayes Carll to perform a holiday song for News 8s rooftop series and a short-lived morning show I did w/ Bryan Beck on KGSR Austin. As he told the Statesman in 2010: Andy asked me to sing a Christmas song, (but) I wasn’t gonna do “Jingle Bells” (laughs). So, I just figured I’d write one.
