My interpretation of The Loneliest Guy was totally different. I thought its a purely personal song. I was wrong! Bowie captures in The Loneliest guy the atmosphere of one of the strangest towns of the world: Brasília! Brasília is the most untypical town of South America. Brasília is a satellite town, a work by architect Oscar Niemeyer, an artistic work, but the needs of the population get completely neglected. In this unreal concrete world Built for a few millions lose about 250,000 people. Bowie said in a interview mutatis mutandis: The view in this city is just fantastic, only lacks the normal signs of civilization. I imagine I seeing out one of these windows of one of these buildings. From this perspective, I wrote the song. Does anyone know more?
