My journey to Nepal” by Alexey Updated on 16 July 2014 Heres my story about meeting with Guru. I remember reading the posts about visiting Maitriya Guru Maha Sambodhi Dharma Sangha, how I thanked people who described their trips. I believe my story will support you and give you certainty. Once upon a time on a summer night I decided to watch something about Buddha and typed Buddha in the YouTube search. Okay, this one I watched, this one watched, this one watched, I spoke to myself switching between the videos. Finally Ive found the video about Ram Bahadur Bomjan. I felt joy from the first minutes. I was happy like a little child waiting for the lovely uncle who is always funny and interesting to be with and who always comes with presents, plenty of stories and news. After I had learnt all the information about the new Buddha (this is how I perceived Guru at the time), I found the Sangha website, learnt about the possibility of visiting Maitriya Guru Maha Sambodhi Dharma Sangha and The Eleven Maitri Precepts which were close to my internal aspiration. From this moment I began getting ready for our meeting instead of thinking how to get there. The following day I told my girlfriend that the Goa trip to the sea in February was cancelled and that we would be going to Maitriya Guru Maha Sambodhi Dharma Sangha in Nepal. Who is this person? she asked me. He looks like Buddha I replied with doubt. And then added, Its time to figure it out. I had already known that I would meet Guru either that year or the following, or someday for sure. Every morning and evening I started listening to the audios of The Prayers of the Seven Deities of Dharma Sangha and reading the Om Namo Guru Buddha Gyani Mantra and the others during the day. This was mainly for building faith. The main goal was to go deeply and master The Eleven Maitri Precepts and fully apply them in real life. In autumn I started having some doubts: do I really want to visit Guru? Am I sure that I want to refuse going to Goa? My friends might gather together and the old dream of a big reunion could come true. At that very moment I saw a parcel notification in my mail. At the post office I received an envelope with the beads. Thanks to the Sangha in the shape of Kim Nguyen I got this beads blessed by Guru. I was pleased that a person would send a message to the other part of the world but the most incredible thing was that with the beads Ive got my first blessing. I didn’t notice it then but from that very moment some invisible mechanism was creating situations where I forgave and was forgiven, releasing old offences and claims, and avoiding new disputes. When the feeling of the forthcoming meeting got stronger and the doubts went away, I started thinking of how to get there. Its pretty hard to plan any holidays because of my work and I needed to do it several months beforehand yet I didnt know the exact date when Guru was going to accept visitors. I trusted my heart to go the second half of February. In one of the social network groups devoted to Guru I left a message where I asked if anyone was going to visit Maitriya Guru Maha Sambodhi Dharma Sangha in February and if there was a chance to join. Unfortunately the closest visit was planned in March. I didnt even have a time to feel upset when I’ve got great news that under the presence of Maitriya Guru Maha Sambodhi Dharma Sangha a blessing program would be held in Vulvule, Khudi, Lamjung District, Nepal from February 22 to 27, 2014. This message was a final sign that I was allowed to come. After the Christmas in January one of the devotees told me that it was time to buy tickets. So I had the tickets, was in a good mood and I was ready for the trip. It was early morning in Kathmandu. The weather as I had expected according to the Google forecast was cloudy but it didnt darken my internal state, moreover I felt calmness and the feeling that I was so close to Guru. We were on our way to the Family Home Stays hotel where we met the house host whose name was Dawa. Family Home Stays turned out to be a huge and very cozy place. There was simple wooden furniture, thangkas on the walls, mandalas, photos of Dawas mountain walks and his family portraits. Everything in Dawas house tells you that you can relax here and put the worries out of your head, as if youre visiting good friends. Still one question haunted me, only in Nepal I learnt that Maitriya Guru Maha Sambodhi Dharma Sangha doesnt teach Buddha methods in the way I knew them and I was unable to understand how to treat my buddhist practice and sort it out in my head. With these thoughts I climbed onto the lovely roof with the magnificent views of Kathmandu. When I looked up, I saw the amazing beauty of the sunset and when turned, I saw the rich double rainbow in the sky over the city. And then I remembered that on one Lama’s cremation ceremony a giant rainbow arose around the sun. At the same time I heard the Lamas words in my head, Since taking the Refuge, Buddhas in various ways send us what we need which will lead us along the Path in the quickest way. I was thankful for this and took a photo of this beautiful moment. The following days the weather was sunny and clear, only in the night the cold cloaked Nepal and we had to wrap ourselves up. After spending a couple of days in Kathmandu and waiting for the arriving devotees, we got in the jeep and the experienced driver took us to the Puja. The road showed us the beauty of Nepal, spring nature, magnificent mountains, rivers, houses and people. Everything around was smiling and my heart filled with joy looking forward to the meeting with Guru. Later that night we caught up with the main column which was following jeep with Maitriya Guru inside. The cars and bikes with the Maitriya flags, peoples smiling faces, oncoming cars signals, the holiday atmosphere was felt on the way. It was already dark when our column passed through the last settlements on the way to the place. The village inhabitants were standing along the road greeting with the Namaste gestures and the words of Maitri Mangalam, burning the fragrances far and wide. So we drove into Lamjung. The devotees from Europe were accommodated in the guesthouse near the swift mountain river. Its difficult to express in words what beauty opened up before my eyes, ears and nose the next morning. There were a couple of days remaining before the Puja, so I managed to enjoy the sights around, get to know the devotees from the other countries and the Maitriya monks. I saw the preparation for the celebrations; refreshing the colours of the Gurus throne, and the making of thormas. Then came the day for which we all gathered there. After meditation and breakfast we started moving to the Puja place. The leisurely walk took about twenty five minutes. I tried to dismiss all spare thoughts in my head and get into a meditative quiet mood by reciting the Om Namo Guru Buddha Gyani mantra to myself on the way. The European devotees were given a place in the main tent extremely close to the place of Maitriya Guru . Lots of people gathered in an infinitely long queue. The monks were finishing the preparation, hanging the thangkas, and rolling out the yellow cloth for the Gurus appearance. When the trumpets sounded, Maitriya Guru Maha Sambodhi Dharma Sangha appeared from the cabin accompanied by monks. He came to the throne and sat in a lotus position. The Guru started with the welcoming speech right away, during that I completely forgot that there were a lot of people and I had the feeling that I was in empty space where the Guru and I faced one another. Now I remember this as an amazing dream. After the speech Maitriya Guru started giving darshan to all the guests. Maitriya Guru touched my head when my turn came. All the next days Maitriya Guru Maha Sambodhi Dharma Sangha continued giving darshan to visitors. The whole day without breaks for having a drink He was giving blessings. Day by day I wished to talk less and less. As if I was walking through the desert and holding in my hands a jug filled to the brim with the clear water, I wished so much to bring all of this back home to share with my friends. Next I was returning to Kathmandu, then to the airport and now Im back in Moscow, happy and satisfied, and overfilled with gratitude to Maitriya Guru and those people who helped me.
