My kitten, Bam, was 16 months old when he died on Monday evening. - TopicsExpress

My kitten, Bam, was 16 months old when he died on Monday evening. Neighbours helped him into a box & the council was called. The next morning I was alerted by a friend that there was a post on a facebook page about a cat in an accident. It was only through this that I was able to find Bam. Bam was micro chipped due to his intolerance of collars, however, his chip was not checked by the council & it took me 5 hours of phone calls to find a description fit of Bam. All we wanted was to be able to bring him home so the family had closure. When we got to the council waste site he was given to us in a bin liner. I told the lady I would need to do a formal identification as his chip still had not been scanned. We were taken into a busy reception area & told to look at Bams body there infront of every passing stranger. Unfortunately, it was my little man but thanks to a post on a facebook page & our friend that Bam was not incinerated with the wild animals (thats what we was offered!!) & we could bring him home. Basically, why Im writing this is because Bam was not scanned, we would not have been alerted, & he would have been burned without a trace. Please sign the petition. This has to change. epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/57732
