My last evening in Paonia for a while… seems fitting somehow to - TopicsExpress

My last evening in Paonia for a while… seems fitting somehow to have a wild thunderstorm following these quiet hours of packing up my office, crickets chirping and sprinklers watering the soggy lawn of the elementary school. I feel a mixture of sadness, overwhelming gratitude, and peace, because Ive enjoyed nearly 3 years of rich adventures here, in our little town, in this amazing valley. Im glad Mark will get to enjoy a few more summer evenings dancing at Pickin in the Park. Ill be thinking of you all while Im setting up our household again, in Seattle. I think the struggles of living here can be difficult, mostly in terms of making a living; but also the daily challenges of tripping over the uneven sidewalks, slogging through ice and snow, late freezes, drought, intense heat… these things also bind us together. So happy dancing, my friends, and a thousand thanks for everything youve shared with me. You can count on me and Mark to return, hopefully for Cherry Days next summer.
