My last laptop was a Thinkpad T60. Released in 2006. It came with Windows XP and still had a modem in it. lol. Interesting note: the CPU is only about 2 times as slow as todays Surface Pro 3. Clearly the last 8 years have not really gone into mobile CPU speed. Instead, the improvements are in power reduction and in solid state hard disks. Compared to 2006, todays laptops weigh less than 1/2 as much, and last twice as long. Hard disks are, by some measures, literally 100 times faster.
