My last open-air at the Portland Comic Con was based on Matthew - TopicsExpress

My last open-air at the Portland Comic Con was based on Matthew 18:1-6. Throughout the weekend we watched as parents encouraged their little children to mock the preaching of the gospel. So, I warned parents that unless they repent and receive Christ, causing their children to sin against God would result in their condemnation. I told those within the sound of my voice that to encourage a child to sin against God is to hate the child. As I finished preaching I was all but accosted by a group of about 30 12-to-14-year-olds--most of them girls, with several of them claiming to be lesbians. They were so vicious and vile--literally, at least some of them, gnashing their teeth. Then a 20-something young man tried to rescue them from me. He was as vile and belligerent as the kids. And.....wait for it.....he claimed to be a youth worker in several area Christian churches. American Evangelicalism strikes again. And why were the children so angry? They spent the whole day arguing with a group of Pelagian street preachers (presumably). When the Pelagians left, the group of kids found us and assumed we were with the other preachers who spent the day hating people and bringing a reproach upon Christ. But, in spite of all that, it really was a wonderful day of open-air ministry. Hundreds (if not thousands) heard the preaching of the gospel, received the gospel in the form of gospel tracts, and were presented with the gospel by way of one-to-one and small group conversations. Beaverton Grace Bible Church was well represented, with a dozen of us participating in the Comic Con outreach. The rest of the evening will be spent in fellowship at Pastor ONeals home. Tomorrow will be filled with worship, the teaching of Gods Word, the breaking of bread, and fellowship. And then..... I fly home to my lovely bride, Mahria. ~ Tony
