My last post talked about gas prices and elections. I decided to back up my thoughts with some research. Here is what I found. I located a chart online that shows the what the average USA gas prices were, for every month, for the last 10 years. In the year leading up to President Obamas first victory, gas prices rose precipitously from about $2.90 a gallon in Feb. to a high of $4.10 per gal in late June 2008. In the months leading up to his first election, starting in early July, gas prices inexplicably plummeted to $1.59 a gal. (I believe this was what my memory was telling me.) Almost immediately after the election, the prices rose steadily to a peak of around $4.00 a gal in April 2011. Since that time, the prices have ranged (up and down) between $3.90 to $3.15 per gallon (estimated - the chart isnt exacting to the penny). This morning, gas in my neighborhood was $2.91 per gal. The last time gas was that low was in the 1st quarter of 2011. It will be interesting to see how low the price drops as we move into November. And, what happens after the election. Whenever gas prices rise- it seems that the media is always interviewing someone who says that its at least partly due to unrest in the Middle East. What? The Middle East is in complete chaos RIGHT NOW. Yesterday, I heard that ISIS troops are at the borders of Bagdad. If Bagdad falls, do you know what that means? It means that everything we did, lives given, money spent, on Iraq, for 10 years, was for nothing. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2773268/ISIS-militants-fighting-Iraqi-government-forces-just-six-miles-Baghdad-despite-Western-airstrikes-against-terror-group.html
