My letter to FOODBANK Hi ***** , you dont know me but we have a mutual friend. (******) Ive got some ideas for the foodbank that maybe you can help implement or at least explain why they havent been done yet. 1. Tesco clubcard points collection as opposed to food collections? You could offer Tesco customers a 2nd clubcard at the door on entry to swipe for foodbank as and when they wish and arrange for the points to be transferred. This should not be difficult as (im sure you know) Tesco clubcard points are already convertible to CASH, not store credit for: RSPB, Cancer research and the woodland trust. Whilst these are all noble causes im sure, I am also confused as Tesco specialise in food. So I think you would agree that they can do a bit better than 30% on a can of baked beans or stew. If your collection teams respectfully asked the Tesco customer to swipe for food bank once out of every three times they shopped then I think the quality of life for those less fortunate would be significant. Tesco are worth a fortune, and they seem to not really do all that much. Ive lived of value food and its fine, but I think Tesco could be a bit more supportive. Also we have Asda, Sainsburys , Morrisons ect. Why do they not contribute? Morrisons can afford to hire ant and dec for rubbish adverts on telly. 2. I read an article featuring yourself explaining the difficulties some people had with heating food , and many were returning packages to you at the food bank. I must acknowledge the spirit of these people. Cold and hungry yet they still return food so that others like themselves can benefit. I am confident that it is possible to obtain low wattage electric hotplates subsidized by manufacturers in return for some good PR. Im aware that these ideas may seem unrealistic but why? They are all in, what I feel are reasonable parameters for todays world. Sure, they cannot be implemented this Christmas ,but lets shoot to have these ideas adopted by this time next year. Kind Regards Martin Neal
