My lovely friend Ildiko of Ildiko Gagyor Photography - Bendigo recently took some beautiful images of this cute brother and sister. Sophie is wearing our Fuchsia tutu and Noir leotard, but this isnt really the reason Im sharing this..... Ill quote from Ildis original post to tell you the touching story behind these siblings Sibling love! Isnt this beautiful? You watch your kids grow into each others best buddies. They play together, get into mischief together, they protect each other and yes, sometimes they fight. Sadly, this time will be cut short for Ryan and Sophie and they dont have the slightest idea about it yet. This January Ryan was diagnosed with a fatal genetic condition called Duchenne Dystrophy (DMD) and the Healy familys life was changed forever in the blink of an eye. DMD effects dystrophin in the body, which is supposed to be a shock absorber of the muscles, without this, Ryans muscles will waste away and he will require a wheelchair full time by the time he is 10-12. He will slowly deteriorate and most likely only live till his 20s. It effects the hearts and lungs too and worst part is there is no cure for this horrible disease. Charlotte and Michael, Ryans parents, have launched Reach out for Ryan, as a platform to raise much needed funds for equipment - for Ryan to meet his full potential, to assist other DMD families in the Bendigo area and to raise awareness of DMD.
