My maternal grandmoither, may her gentle soul continue to rest in - TopicsExpress

My maternal grandmoither, may her gentle soul continue to rest in peace, once told me when I was aged 34, that I have to learn the rudiments of life and to know that all men/women are not just and true. She also told me that for every scoundrel, there is a hero and that for every selfish person, there is a dedicated leader, for every enemy there is a friend, for every kobo earned is far more valuable than a dollar earned throug deception or stolen. She reiterated further that I should learn to lose and later enjoy winning. She warned me to steer away from envy and to enjoy the secret of quiet laughter. She said: * It is far more honourable to fail than to cheat; * To have faith in my own ideas even if everyone tells me they are wrong; * To be gentle with gentle people and tough with tough people; * To have the strength not to follow the crowd when everyone is getting on the bandwagon; * To listen to all but to filter all I hear on a screen of truth and take only the good that comes out of it; * To close my ears and eyes to a howling mob and to stand and fight it if I think I am right * To have the courage to be impatient but have the patience to be brave; * To have faith in GOD, myself and in mankind. When you adhere to the above, then you are on the right path to enjoying yourself and be contented in any situation you find yourself. Note however that discipline, respect and integrity are the key words. When you are rebuked or criticised for serious offences, that rebuke is not a rejection of anyone. In actual fact, when you rebuke someone is not a rejection of their authority instead it is to checkmate the bad example that would eventually compel you to exhibit imprudency, lack of respect, lack of dignity, lack of integrity, etc. that could do much harm.
