My ministry motor is dead in the water. We still have oars and can - TopicsExpress

My ministry motor is dead in the water. We still have oars and can tread water if the boat sinks, but we are committed to a recovery operation. I mean I think my PC is officially dead. Through the gift of a ministry supporter I bought a really good Dell notebook in 2006. Dell replaced it with a refurbished upgrade when the Papua New Guinea heat and humidity proved too much for it. Since 2007 I have scrubbed or replaced the hard drive almost annually to keep it functional. I know the machine well because I have taken it completely apart more times than I can remember for memory fixes, DVD replacements, hinge replacements, screen issues, keyboard replacement, internal speakers replacement, hard drive replacements and general cleaning. I have struggled for over a year backing up, rebuilding and reinstalling software at least four times as well as researching and installing virus and fixit software. I about gave it up for dead in November but it suddenly started working again and I got four more months out of it and some things which could not be retrieved from backup. As a ministry tool it has kept the motor going as the central piece of equipment for communications, video production, graphics creation, ministry accounting, flight tracking, schedule planning, travel planning, presentation development, fund-raising, social media posting as well as daily email communications with missionaries and candidates around the world. I was wondering how Microsofts end of support for Win XP on April Fools Day would affect my ability to use it. Now I know. Goodbye old friend! You have outlived four power supply units and helped me log many more hours than any old aircraft! Youve helped get the word out to future missionaries. Weve seen more unreached tribes come to faith in Christ than we thought possible. I thank God for you. What a great tool you have been for reaching the Least Reached people with the Gospel!
