My mobile phone rang yesterday and I see the schools name on the screen. My first thought is Oh no .... what has David done now??? Dont worry, there is nothing wrong, the school obviously know of David and me. It is the end of the year award ceremony tomorrow and David is going receive an award. Please come and dont tell David as it will be a surprise for him. You could have knocked me over with a feather then - I was gobsmacked! I had no idea what he would receive - maybe Maths or the most improved (behaviour-wise) child. Ahhh.... the number of times I sat on one of those tiny childrens seat cringing whilst the exasperated teacher tells me that he has been too cheeky for their liking or how he prefers to do things his way. I have a contrarian child, but I do love him for it as he is wonderfully unique. And the award for Science goes to David for his scientific curiosity and endless questioning. I can definitely see the roll of his teachers eyes at the latter part of that sentence. Science??? Wow, that is a surprise for me too!
