My mom is 87 and has very limited chewing due to gum and bone - TopicsExpress

My mom is 87 and has very limited chewing due to gum and bone erosion. Hence, only things raw for her must be predigested or blended. Or soft raw veggies such as baby spinach, avocados, etc. I do get sprouts and fruit and actually thinking now about it a good deal of raw into her body. What I cant get her to eat green smoothies the way I make them more than make up the difference and she never turns them away (wink). Mom has advanced Alzheimers and I brought her home to live with me. I have brought her another chapter to her long life and shes healing from the perils of the facility I had her in. Facility life in general. Dont be sad trust me shes still the boss, a diva, and although 90% of the time is very well tempered and joyfully mellow, the 10% she can be stubborn as the rock of Gibraltar! Shes doing better than most! Anyone who knows her can attest to that. So what to make her which I do have to make two separate meals sometimes. She eats 85% and has transformed miracles in the 4 months with me! So heres a French lentil wild rice loaf with white northern beans I made and froze in portions last month. The loaf has carrots, mushrooms, and is slightly smothered in Haines vegan brown gravy. I saved the juice from my collard greens last night and made used some in place of water. I added water bc between the gravy and juice combined it was a bit salty. Also through in dark chocolate pieces to counter balance the gravy. Mac n cheese, sweat peas and a scoop of cranberry sauce. Shes happy. Im happy :)
