My mom is watching this reality show where specialist in several fields compare peoples personalities and then match them up with their new significant other. The catch? They have to agree to marry this person who they dont know and have never before seen UNTIL they walk down the aisle. Now some of you are thinking this sounds like an interesting show..others are rolling their eyes..I, however, immediately found it offensive. Why? Because in the United states it is still illegal in most states for gays to marry. The strongest argument being that it ruins the sanctity of marriage, which is a religious belief and thats a whole different argument..so...for you anti-gay marriage people out there...where is the sanctity in this? The fact that two people who dont know each other and have never seen each other before can marry, but two people in a loving and committed relationship cant is BEYOND OFFENSIVE.
