My mother came to hear me preach when I was in Nashville years ago.Of course I introduced her.At the end of the service she stood with me and greeted the people.While driving home she said Ricky I always get introduced as Elviss stepmother but Im so proud to be introduced as Rev.Rick Stanleys mother.When I got back to moms apartment I laid day for a few minutes.Billy came in the bedroom and said I need to share something with you.He ask me Ricky what do you hear?I said I hear mom in the kitchen singing What a friend we have in Jesus.Why are you asking me this Billy.Billy said Thats the first time Ive heard mom sing since you went on the road with Elvis.She stopped singing when you left home.Ricky mom had big plans for you but you broke her heart when you left.I said Billy i didnt mean to hurt her or break her heart.You see friends my mother what was going on while touring.I got out of the be and hugged her and told her how sorry I was.I would never do anything to hurt my mother.I ask her if she would forgive me for being so insensitive.She said off course Ricky but i want to know if you will forgive me.Forgive you for what mom?Forgive me for placing you in foster care when you were only 5 years.Praise the Lord for Godly mothers and forgiving spirits.I MISS YOU MOM.
