My movie review. INTERSTELLAR: A movie where expository - TopicsExpress

My movie review. INTERSTELLAR: A movie where expository dialogue takes up 80% of the running time. A movie where an obnoxiously loud Hans Zimmer score plays over important dialogue, rendering it irrelevant. A severe lack of symbolism in the mise-en-scene to decode what is going on, whence excessive use of talking which you cannot hear, whence viewer confusion at films climax. Conversations that you can hear, which are rare, are spoken in what I like to call road-sign dialogue. (It is a Christopher Nolan film after all, so I guess I shouldve expected it). Inclusion of wonderful outer space visuals which are not utilised enough. Humour and banter between characters is absent. One heartfelt moment that gives you hope the characters will become relatable, however next scene swiftly focuses on inaudible monotonal exposition. Tonal shift from Sci-Fi expedition adventure to Futile tragedy to fight scenes that look like they wouldnt be out of place in an original series episode of Star Trek. Has the mother of all Deus Ex Machinas It is a direct remake of Inception, BUT IN SPACE. I would recommend watching this movie from the 40 minute mark to 100 minute mark only, completely due to the cinematography, you wont understand anything else. 5/10
