My mum in the backyard of my Dads sisters place in Pascoe Street - TopicsExpress

My mum in the backyard of my Dads sisters place in Pascoe Street Westbreen on Xmas Day 1955. I remember those tins my cousins used for backyard cricket and my cousins trike. Just to the right of where mum is there was the outdoor Dunny. If only someone had thought to take a photo of that! But more the purpose of the photo of those times is to show the chook shed behind mums right shoulder. Had many a boiled egg for brekky when staying at my cousins place. This backyard became a truck depot (or something like that) with the house getting more dilapidated over the years after dads sister and family moved out in 1967. I can remember as a kid standing on the porch and watching the kids play in the Westbreen State School playground. And if you look carefully you can make out the shape of the chooks. Yes they used to have roosters, but no-one seemed to mind back then! I loved visiting my Westbreen cousins as there was always something good going on and in the summer we would catch the Bell Street Bus Company bus up near the Northern Golf Links to go to Pascoe Vale baths or sometimes we would be more adventurous and catch it to Sydney Road and we would call into Fergusons for a Vanilla Slice! Those were the days my friends and we truly thought they would never end! Oh and you could hit a six in their huge backyard, you werent out and you could jump the fence to retrieve the tennis ball! No-one minded one bit!
