My name is Dylan Doherty and I am 15 years old. Im a 10th Grader at McCutcheon Highschool in Lafayette Indiana. I am here to tell you as a kid, we need to change our ways and fast. The combustion engine is a revolutionary concept, it was. Now we need to move on and secede from the ideals of fossil fuels. I do understand that the U.S Government is in a tight rope right now, from the economy to certain military problems. I understand this I do. We need to make a change though and if our country manages to make a slight change, the rest of the world can follow. It may seem crazy in the broad perspective, money wise. Fossil fuels are huge trade. Imagine this though, lets say in 100 years the last combustion engine in America is being put in a museum. It would be pretty cool to imagine that. Again it may all sound absolutely crazy. We are humans though arent we? We can overcome what can be told as impossible if we put our minds to it. Temperatures are rising around the globe and our polar ice caps are melting. Its time for all of us to accept the reality that humans are the absolute cause of this. If we had a filter in our eyes to see all the Co2 on Earth. It would be disturbing to how much you would see just going on a walk. From our Factories, cars and any sort of engine that pumps out Co2 alone we pump about 30 billion metric tons of Co2 in the air. That is about 90% of our Co2 annual put into the air. 10% is natural and land changes. We are humans, we build great things and always strive towards a great future. We do not destroy. We build. We can not hope for a great future if we are setting ourselves and our children up for a bad one. I sincerely hope you read this Mr. Coats.
