My name is Susan White, Graduate Student in Professional Studies - Education at Capella University. I am conducting a research study on the experiences of Women Engineers with 1 to 5 years of employment. I am very interested in your perspective as an Engineer in male-dominated fields! To participate, you must meet the following criteria: • You hold a 4 yr. Engineering degree or higher from an accredited U.S. University engineering program. • You are employed as an Engineer for a minimum of 1 year to no more than 5 years. • You are within the age group of 18-65. The purpose of this study is to gain understanding, from your perspective, about some advantages and challenges of employment as a woman engineer just embarking on your career. Primary Research Activity: Telephone Interviews with Women Engineers with a total time commitment of about 2 hours – 1 hour for a taped interview, and ½ hour each to answer questions & sign the consent form, and a follow-up call to review your interview data. • You will not be asked questions that will identify you or your place of employment. • Participation in this study is voluntary. You may choose to leave the study at any time. • A gift card will be sent to you once the post-interview process is completed. • All data collected will be kept in a secured file. This study has been approved by Capella University Institutional Review Board. Only the regulatory authorities will be granted direct access to the research data.
