My neighbors in North county recently moved and left their dog to fend for himself. He spent his entire life chained under a carport. I spent the last week trying to gain his trust. My husband built a fire for him Sunday morning when he showed up on our porch shivering. I coaxed him to come and sit by me to warm up. I already have a very large male bulldog or I wouldve taken him in. His name is Man-o. His story has been shared by hundreds of people in an effort to find help for him. I had made great progress in a short time. Unfortunately, he was picked up by St. Louis county rabies control. Myself and other people who believe that every life matters have posted a plea on Steve Stengers fb page asking for his help. Steve has promised to reform the animal control program and greatly reduce euthanasia. Well, on the eve before election, the poster boy for rabies control reform has arrived. We are begging Steve to help us buy some time to find a safe place for Man-o and press the prosecution of the people who left him to die. We are praying this one lonely creature can spark a revolution for more humane practices in St. louis county. Right before he was picked up tonight I noticed a large lump in his lymph node. He needs medical care urgently. If he has lymphoma, he doesnt have much time left to experience a warm bed, food, toys and a family.
