My nephew Jaylen Lara Provencal Capuano I posted this video of my son getting his hearing aids about a year ago. For some reason in the past week, it has gone sort of viral on YouTube, with over 170k views. It has also sparked a bit of a God vs. science debate, peppered with some racist comments. I am not sure if/how to respond... Especially since the commentators dont understand that Jay was born the way God created him, with perfect hearing, and his hearing loss only occurred when he was given a toxic level of antibiotics at 2 days old. This caused his hearing loss and enough damage to his brain to cause some developmental delays. We were told this would be irreversible, but we have watched Jay learn to use his hands, walk, and now talk. He is even responding to sounds in a way that we were told he wouldnt be able to without the use of hearing aids. I dont know what to make of this debate, but I know for sure that science can not get the credit for how far Jay has come. God has done miracles in that boy that science said was impossible. And as for those racist comments, I am debating between a) not dignifying them with a response, and b) slamming their faces in a car door. #thejuryisout #dontmesswiththeganglywhitewoman #thankfulforGodANDscience #wedonthavetochoose
