My new favorite meat substitute [and yall know Ive tried em all] - TopicsExpress

My new favorite meat substitute [and yall know Ive tried em all] Soy Curls, by Butler Foods. Its a lot like TVP, except it tastes better and uses the whole soybean. TVP [texturized vegetable protein] is defatted soybeans. It tends to be bitter. The soy curls taste less bitter and have a savory flavor that is lacking in TVP. So what Ive been doing is flinging the curls in the Ninja to turn them into crumbles, and then I reconstitute thme mix em with a little browned ground beef and use it like hamburger. Mixing it with meat is the cheaters way of making it taste like meat without having to use fifteen different ingredients. Its a complete protein, just like hamburger, but its got no saturated fat and is WAY better for you. ALSO! Six eight ounce bags [3 pounds] add up to NINE pounds reconstituted, which is less than $2 a pound when its reconstituted. Cheap AND healthy! Now thats my kind of food!
