My newest and latest designed handy work is not a new concept, not a new invention. But it is new for this model of S&W as far as I know. I wanted to mount an accessory rail on my 4006 but couldnt finds anything without a lot of expensive machining and altering. I do not want to modify the gun in a permanent manner. My new rail design uses a slide and snap retention system with an adjustment lock to quick set settings for laser to ballistics distances. This is something no other rail system has. Without a range finder the zero is expected to be within 2 on the vertical at ranges of 30 yards or less. Which is acceptable as far as I am concerned. The light rail is designed to drop out of the way for magazine dumping and reloading without hindrances or fouling. This doesnt mean that some training or adjustment to a new device wont be required. The light or laser device is a selective use device or tool. When to use it and not use it will be at the discretion of the user. This devise is intended to be applied quickly and detached quickly but require a specific mechanical manipulation to do achieve either; so, the device is not likely to be knocked off or fall off. After all it is designed to be a calibrated device if the laser is used as an aiming assist device. This particular slide rail is designed to strengthen the butt of the grip and protect the magazine from damage if the gun is dropped; it would also aid in absorbing the forces of impact on the guns operating mechanisms if the gun was dropped and it landed on the butt end of the weapon from a maximum height of 4. This new light rail will not impede draw or holstering the weapon. It may hinder concealment with some articles of clothing. So again; discretionary use is advised. THE NEXT GENERATION AND DESIGN WILL BE MOUNTING THIS ON A REMOTE (RC)VEHICLE PLATFORM WITH VIDEO TRANSMISSION DISPLAY WITH AUTOMATIC MOTION AND SOUND ACTIVATION CAPABILITIES AND PERHAPS HEAT SENSING OPTICS. THE WEAPON WILL BE ARMED AND FIRED REMOTELY IN A SEMI AUTOMATIC MODE with a new design in drum fed magazine of not less than 40 rounds. I may make this new sentry device capable of two way communications. There are silent robotic vacuums already on the market SO;TWEAKING ONE OR FIVE FOR MY USES WOULD BE NO PROBLEM. IMAGINE THE expression on a guys face to be arrested by a vacuum cleaner lol ummmm an armed vacuum cleaner at that. I think a stun gun; backed up with Mr. .40 on duty would be the optimal package in home protection/ defense.
