My number is 23. Hoo boy. 1. I love sailing. A lot. If I had a large enough boat, and an occupation that did not require a sedentary lifestyle, I would live at sea full-time. 2. I have never had a Twitter account, and never will. 3. Im a total 90s kid. And by 90s, I mean 1890s. 4. Im a liberal in the very old sense of the word; at first glance, most people mistake me for a conservative. 5. I used to get angry a lot, usually about nothing of great import. Out of the long list of things Id change about myself as a kid, thats probably #1. 6. I believe there is no force more destructive in literature than the academic whose first instinct, upon reading a poem or story, is to pin it to the table and dissect it as one might dissect a frog. 7. Im a strong believer in the importance of dressing well. I dont do it to show off or elevate myself beyond my station; I do it to demonstrate that I care about what I do and who I will meet in the course of the day. 8. I am currently working on my second novel. If you love Mary Sues, overwrought social commentary, robots, and a $10 bargain at Barnes and Noble, you should check out my first. 9. I am a cat person, and I fulfill the stereotype to a T. 10. When I was 16, I thought I knew what fear was. Then I ran out of gas on a busy freeway. 11. While I agree they arent always the most erudite source of entertainment, I think anyone who says graphic novels arent literature is just plain ignorant. 12. I try to make my first drafts perfect, not because Im motivated, but because Im lazy and I dread the extra work of revising and editing. 13. I watch and re-watch Downton Abbey like its my job. 14. Ditto for White Collar. 15. David Tennant is the best Doctor. 16. I am a huge fan of Americas Next Top Model. Cycle 6 is my favorite season. 17. I was once married to Tyra Banks on Wikipedia for 24 hours. It wasnt my doing, but I totally didnt mind. 18. I have very little patience for people who are easily offended. 19. I am fascinated by detective stories, and very envious of anyone who can write them well. 20. Travel is fun, but for me Vermont is always the best place to come home to. 21. I am always wary of large crowds with a common purpose. 22. I had never been to Disney World until last January; I thought it would be terrible, but it was actually just as magical as everyone says it is. 23. I think a lot more people would enjoy poetry if it wasnt rammed down their throats in high school. Consequently, I firmly believe our society would be a far kinder, gentler, and more prosperous one if more people understood, appreciated, and created poetry.
