My old school mate and brilliant legal mind, Wayne Sturge says on television this morning that the run off as proposed by the government in their latest effort to steal or more appropriately hold on to power, gives the citizens who may not have voted for a party that GOT THE HIGHEST VOTES re all parties that would have contested a seat but not 50% of the total votes cast, can now say well you know the PNM or the UNC isnt that bad and in a Run Off vote for either. In your own words Wayne...BULLOCKS! When a vote is cast it is a definitive indication that the voter has voted for or against a candidate or party. Other UNC sycophants have argued that their was public consultations on the proposed constitutional reform...yes there was but this run off assness was NEVER a part of those public discussions! The government is showing that they are absolutely prepared to steal the reigns of power by any means necessary just as the did when they foisted the Local Government Election amendment last LGE. Trinidad and Tobago citizens, if ever there are signs of a creeping dictatorship it is now. This has nothing to do with racial politics or otherwise. It is about a governments attempt to hold on to power by any means necessary. This goes against the fabric of democracy which this government loves to use as its cloak. Pull the cloak and see the evil and ugly intent behind it. The Constitutions states that the government can make laws for the good governance of Trinidad and Tobago. It can be argued perhaps with success that this run off garbage as proposed by the government is not and will not be in keeping with good governance as it has stirred more public discontent that almost any other bill. Get involved my friends. Read up on this proposed legislation. Make your opinions heard. This post is simply mine!
