My oldest brother, Kevin, introduced me to country music when I - TopicsExpress

My oldest brother, Kevin, introduced me to country music when I was nine years old. I loved it right away! My passion was singing and writing songs, and the lyrics of country music were easy for me to pick up. Since Kevin loved to sing too, we always drove to my soccer or softball practices singing along to the songs of Alabama, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Judds, Restless Heart, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, etc. Those are joyful memories for me! In the late 80s and 90s, women in country music flourished as performers and as in-demand songwriters. And while I wanted to be like #Wynonna (love her!!), I wanted to write songs like #MaryChapinCarpenter and #GretchenPeters— two of my ALL TIME favorite lyrical storytellers. I have found myself walking down memory lane a lot lately as I prepare myself for the February 2015 release of my songs (my stories!), and I find myself listening more and more to the songs that influenced my life and my songwriting style. There is something about a song that can impact your life for a looooong time, and this is one of those songs. Performed by #PattyLoveless and written by Gretchen Peters, You Dont Even Know Who I Am keeps coming into my consciousness as I experience quite a number of my friends/loved ones struggling with challenges in their relationships. Having my own personal experiences of living the highs and lows of love and love lost over the years, I know what it feels like to be loved and supported during those times. I also know what it feels like to be judged and dismissed during those times. Through awareness of learning my own life lessons, I know that love without judgement (for everyone!) is what matters. This song is so powerful because it shows both sides of hurt—both sides of feeling misunderstood and unappreciated. I felt like I needed to share it today. Perhaps you or someone you know needs to see it, hear it, feel it. Perhaps you or someone you know needs a relationship miracle —a shift in perception—by choosing to see things from the other side, from a shifted vantage point. #expectmiracles
