My personal yoga practice is something that I have enjoyed for - TopicsExpress

My personal yoga practice is something that I have enjoyed for many years. Early on as a new mom with small children ‘yoga time’ was in the evening. Those early days I would practiced yoga with a PBS program entitled ‘Lilia’s Hatha Yoga and You’. I am convinced that it was the gentle flowing movements and the calming demeanor of Lilia’s voice and the soothing music that was the most beneficial for me. Yoga is a Sanskrit word that translated literally means ‘to yoke or unite’. Yoga strives to create union as it integrates the body with the mind and the mind with the spirit. Through this awareness the mind is quieted, the body is gently strengthened and those areas of one’s habits that need improvement are addressed. This philosophy is the most powerful reason that I sought to become a certified yoga instructor. I have worked with expectant moms, those with disabilities and those that have never taken an exercise class until they come to my yoga class. Watching my clients improve over time and with practice is so rewarding. Yoga can be adapted to meet the needs of each practitioner. As a registered nurse I have seen that the principles of yoga dovetail beautifully with a holistic approach to health care. I enjoy what I do and I believe in what I teach. Stretch Breathe Relax....Repeat.
