My place of employment, ASC Group, is in the process of hiring a ecologist/NEPA Specialist, based out of our Indianapolis office. Ecologist/NEPA Specialist This full-time position reports to the Indiana Regional Manager and is responsible for field survey, report preparation, client relations, proposal preparation, and other tasks as assigned. The Ecologist/NEPA Specialist will have 5-7 years of experience as an ecologist in wetland delineation, wetland and stream quality assessments, and endangered species habitat assessments, and must have a bachelor’s degree in ecology, biology, or environmental science. The preferred candidate must also be experienced with completion of NEPA documents and the Indiana Department of Transportation’s environmental process. Good communication skills, computer skills, and the ability to work as a team member are important. The preferred candidate must be able to meet INDOT ecological, NEPA document preparation, and waterway permit pre-qualification requirements. Desired Skills and Experience Additional responsibilities include: Knowledge of and ability to use Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual, applicable Regional Supplement to the Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual: Classification of Wetlands and Deepwater Habitats of the United States by Lewis M. Cowardin, Virginia Carter, Francis C. Golet, Edward T. LaRoe, and Wilhelm and Masters: Floristic Quality Assessment (FQA) Program, Indiana Database, Version 1.0. Evaluate streams using QHEI and/or HHEI indices and prepare technical reports. Coordinate and communicate with staff regarding project status, ensuring that project constraints are being met. We are seeking someone with a high ethical and professional standard, who has excellent written and verbal communication skills, and can work well as part of a larger team. The preferred candidate must have experience in wetland delineation, wetland and stream quality assessments, and endangered species habitat assessments and be able to meet INDOT ecological, NEPA document preparation, and waterway permit pre-qualification requirements. A bachelor’s degree in ecology, biology or environmental science is required.
