My poor little Finn injured a disc in his back yesterday. He was following me down the stairs when I heard a yipe. I turned around and he was trying to get back up the stairs dragging his back legs. I scooped him up and rushed him to the vet. He has the classic signs of ruptured / bulging disc. He received an injection of anti-inflammatory medication and oral anti-inflammatories and robaxin (muscle relaxer). His back legs are weak. When he was assessed at the vet they did the test for neurological involvement. They turn his back paws under so the top is on the floor. If they dont flip them back they cant tell where their paw is. Not good. Finn failed the test yesterday. I did it again tonight and he flipped his paws!! Very good sign. Surgery is $6-7 thousand dollars and is not guaranteed. I am going the anti-inflammatory route with him. He is on bed rest. Getting carried out to do his business.Say a little prayer for him please. Hoping for a good outcome.
