My position on MB Selangor is consistent and clear (do criticise me of any inconsistency so that I may correct them) 1. We have a parliamentary system, not a presidential one. 2. The mandate of Chief Executives -- PM, MB, CM -- is indirect rather than direct. 3. The frontbench -- Cabinet or Exco -- is a team of equals, with the Chief Executive being the first amongst equals. This is starkly different from the presidential system where the Chief Executive (President/Governor) can appoint anyone to his team or sack anyone from it. 4. It is simply not tenable to have a Chief Executive who is rejected by his party/coalition, much like you cant have a captain that is rejected by his members in a football team. 5. This can be resolved in one of the three ways: a. Change the Chief Executive but keep the party/coalition b. Change the party/coalition but keep the Chief Executive c. A reconciliation between the Chief Executive and his party/coalition. These are the principles. We can of course have different preferences on the actual choices.
