My prayer for Mars Hill. Mars Hill, like so many mega-churches, sought to prop up and market their pastors charisma and gifted teaching/preaching abilities to attract the masses. Fortunately, unlike some of this big name celeb-preachers, Mark has a genuine faith and a strong theological background. Unfortunately, the choice to prop up the pastor has created a god-complex in Marks ministry. His pride wont allow him to step aside for true healing. Likewise, it is becoming more and more apparent that this beast is even larger than Mark. Mark isnt the only one culpable here. The leadership (i.e. the board) continues to demonstrate unwillingness to step down as well. While the Christian world waits to see if the board will encourage Mark to do the right thing the board likewise, should do the “right thing.” So dont expect that Mark will be asked to step down so long as the existing board continues to exist. Here is the hope that we who wait still cling too... Because Mark does know the truth and does love the church, he hired competent authentic spiritual leaders. It because of these leaders (i.e. pastors) that I still have hope the Mars Hill will eventually return to its roots of true biblical teaching, preaching and accountability. Pastors Lovingly Demand Mark Driscoll Step Down However, old habits die hard: Pastor Who Called for Driscolls Suspension Terminated. So we wait to see… Something to think about!
