My prayers this weekend were for comfort for the families effected by the shootings at Marysville-Pilchuck High School. As I think about this tragedy and others that have preceded it, I also pray for a better understanding of a solution. Shouting about gun control solves nothing. A much better understanding of mental health is a step in the right direction. More funding for school counseling in the K-5 years is also a step in the right direction. None of these are new ideas but all of them seem to be swept away in the next news cycle. Please never forget what happened here, at Sandy Hook in my home state, Aurora, Columbine or anywhere else its happened. It is my goal to get to know my own family better, my neighbors and my co-workers. I pray that I can be a better listener and that I will never brush aside a call for help no matter how subtle the call may be. There is an answer, I know there is and its up to all of us to find it.
