My rant for today; a warning to be careful using people dealing with dogs who call themselves a BEHAVIOURIST without any qualifications Be aware of trainers who claim to have knowledge and education to offer behavioural advice. This is a highly specialised area. Behavioural problems can be caused by underlying medical conditions or aversive training tecniques A trainer should always refer you to a qualified Behaviourist who will always ask for a Veterinary referral before embarking on a behavioural modification programme, and in many cases Veterinary support. You Vet will also look into their qualifications and their insurance. Reward based kind fair ethical practices and an understanding of how dogs learn, their emotions and body language help us to effectively build relationships between our dogs and their families. Your dog is a well-loved member of your family so think carefully before you employ someone to teach you both. You are entitled to ask as many questions as you like and then its up to you to make your choice. Remember you dog is not a little wolf! petproblems.weebly/finding-a-trainer.html
