My readers choice award (AnLab) certificate arrived in the mail today, along with a check from Dell Magazines for $100 US. This is my second time getting one of these certificates, with one of these checks. Truly, its an honor. Because this comes directly from the readers. Men and women (boys and girls?) who looked at the impressive run of stories in 2013s issues, and said, We liked Brads novella the best. For a guy who spent the better part of 20 years getting rejections from Analog (about four dozen last time I counted) seeing my name on this certificate . . . thats gold, that is. Because I truly do want to do for the Analog folks, what so many of my writing idols have done for me: give them a good time. Provide them with a meaningful, positive experience. Something they can put down and say, Wow, that was totally worth it! If I can do that, I am doing my job. Thank you, everybody, for letting me know . . . I did my job! :D
