My rearrangement of a great Van M@rrison song, Full Force Gale. Van did it hard charging like a race horse bursting hard out of the gate at the Kentucky Derby - and managed to feature one of the best acoustic slide leads Ive ever heard - by Mr. Ry Cooder. We wouldnt dare to try to match or cover this song like them. It couldnt possibly come close. We decided to slow things way down: set that race horse grazing nice and peaceful like by the banks of a slow, lazy river down in the deep South: The drummer lost his sticks, picked up his brushes and swishes like a warm breeze blowing through tall grass. The bass lays down a bottom so sweet you could take a nap in it, and I carry lazy rhythm on a sweet ’94 Gibson L-00 Blues King acoustic with a soulful sound as haunting, deep and hollow as a well. Gregs two slide guitar parts intertwine like a couple of song birds trying to make you believe in love again. It may not be that majestic sounding to you but thats what I hear and feel. You wouldn’t be the first person to call me crazy but, hey, I’m still smilin’. My ears heard it built for comfort, not for speed so thats where we took it. Hope you like what you hear.
