My response: Christian extremism is why this Right has been so long to develop. And by and large these Christian extremists, pseudo-Christians or CINOs being a more accurate label, are Republicans. The GOP a willing accessory, they drug that poor Schiavo woman and her family through the courts and media just a few years ago with the intent of keeping her on a feeding machine as long as possible, despite being brain dead. The only thing different today is their power has waned, though their position has become even more extreme, even to the point of demanding Christo-Sharia and embracing Christo-fascism. That the GOP has offered these poor deluded souls in thrall to a Bronze Age book power, aid, and comfort has only exacerbated the problem. Clean up the GOP, remove the shrieking far right fringe, and then there is a chance the left and right can once again work together in the spirit of progress and compromise and add the Right to die with dignity to the list of accepted human Rights.
