My roots: In the very early years, when Liberty Hill Bapt. Church was on 55th & Woodland, my aunt, Marie Brown (mother of Gwendolyn Prinkleton & Georgia Murphy-in 1st picture) was a member of the Gospel Chorus. Since my mother, Irene Brown (in 2nd picture) was older than my aunt, she joined the Senior Choir. Later, my mother decided she wasnt that old (lol) & joined the Gospel Chorus also. I was baptized in the old Liberty Hill location by Rev. Milton E. Wilson, Sr. at the age of 10. When the church moved to the new & present location on 82nd & Euclid, I joined the youth choir under the direction of Ruth & Rose Collins. That was 55 yrs. ago. When the church moved down to the Euclid location, my aunt Marie decided she didnt want to have to drive so far to get to church. So, she joined Mt Pleasant Baptist Church on Kinsman under the pastorage of the late Rev. D.C. Calvert. When my aunt Hazel Harris moved here from Phoenix, AZ, (with my uncle Alfred & baby, Dennis Harris), she also joined MTPBC. My mother, my youngest aunt Georgia Tyler, & I stayed at Liberty Hill. At the age of 16, my mother and I moved back to WV. Anytime I came back to Cleveland, I always ended up at MTPBC because thats where all of my family worshipped. Thats why most people thought that, when I joined MTPBC, that I was coming back to where I originally belonged. No, tomorrow night will be only the second time in my life that I have been back to my home church since I left Cleveland in 1965, and itll mean so much to me! To God be all the glory!!! #tears
