My second house party in three days. These musicians were much more experimental and angry, at least in their music. I spoke with the guitarist after this number (I dont think I could call it a song), and hes not angry at all. The opposite in fact. He called it an anger release. And it worked - hes a very happy young man. The host of this party - a twenty year old I met at the previous party who recognized me from my candidate photos and with whom I had an excellent political conversation for an hour - said he too doesnt quite know what to make of this music. Were now waiting for the second band to start. Whats interesting is that this is all happening in a kitchen not much bigger than my tiny houseboat. Fifty twenty-somethings, crammed elbow-to-elbow with the band, everyone rocking out. Theres something going on out here. These are the kids who will suffer from todays bad policy decisions but the vast majority of them have no understanding of whats being decided about their futures by rich white men. I gotta figure this out.
