My six month old has been interested in everyones food for over a month. He reaches for it, watches intently, and mimicks chewing. He has been sitting up unassisted for more than a month as well. He also has the pincer grasp. My husband and I took all of this to mean that he is ready to start solids. We steamed some carrots for him and I cut them up, but he hated it. He didnt even try to chew it and he gagged. We then tried to give him bites of a banana and he hated that as well. Is he not ready or is this normal behavior for a baby whos never had anything besides breast milk? Did we do something wrong? We thought for sure he was ready or we wouldnt have even tried yet!-Anonymous
