My skinny on smoothies: while smoothies can be a delicious way to get your fruits and veggies they can also easily become too much of a good thing. For me good way to manage the excess calories that can easily add up is by using a 1-1-1 ratio- 1 protein/fat, 1 fruit, 1 veggie + liquid. By fat, I mean almond butter, all nuts, or Protein powder. Im also careful when using add-ins like chia seeds. These ingredients are great but can add up fast. I use smoothies as a quick small meal, or a splurge. There are so many variations but just remember this is not a drink- its a meal. Recipes are coming!
