My sociology proffessor actually had the audacity to make a claim - TopicsExpress

My sociology proffessor actually had the audacity to make a claim such as this: Entertainment today is as racist as ever, the only successful black entertainer is Beyonce and shes only famous because she has white and european features. I raised my hand to pose this question, We can agree that the main voice today in music is rap and hip hop? she responded yes of course I then said Can we also agree that the major voice in rap and hip hop is held by majority African Americans? again she said yes of course. Considering she failed to see the correlation between the two phrases I then asked So how again is the entertainment industry racist/ all white?, because apparently the two are the same. Instead of responding she chose to ignore me and call on someone else. Lets not create hate and bias where it does not exist and shine lights on the hate and racism that actually does exist in this country. And also if sociology is looking at the spectrum as a whole, then is it politically correct to use the word minority? because if youre looking at a worldly scale of race, white would be the minority. Though in my not so humble opinion, at this day and age we shouldnt even be thinking of people in terms based off of race, gender, or socio economic status. We should be thinking of them for what they are, people.
