My son, Tristan accepted Es Parks nomination...he will also be - TopicsExpress

My son, Tristan accepted Es Parks nomination...he will also be making a donation from his piggy bank. He would like to nominate his best friend, Matthew and his lola, Grace Victoria. Again, my uncle suffered 2 years from this horrible disease until he succumbed to it because he could no longer breathe on his own. We all knew when his time was coming up, but I still couldnt stop feeling angry that such a good person was put through such suffering. I realized though, that if good people didnt suffer, no one would care. There has been a lot of negativity about the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. For example, Maclean Magazines writer, Scott Gilmore wrote Why the Ice Bucket Challenge is Bad For You...he might as well have titled it Let Them Eat Cake. He obviously doesnt understand the plight of ALS patients, and much worse, cares even less. He writes about how ALS is an insignificant disease, not worthy to donate to. Well, Scott, although your words are shameful as a human being, I hope you are not afflicted with this disease because at some point you wont be able to walk to your computer, you wont be able to bathe yourself, you wont be able to feed yourself, you wont be able to use your hands to type your awful words and if you think you would be able to dictate your words instead, guess what, you wont be able to because you would be gasping for as much air as you can. From the sound of your article, no one will be there for you to wipe your tears from your eyes or help you blow your nose. Not only are the donations used to help find a cure, but they also help ALS patients with equipment provision (such as wheelchairs, lifts for their vehicles, breathing machines, etc) and support groups and moral support. Not only does this disease affect the patients, they affect their whole family. How many of you can safely say that if you were stricken with a disease today that prevented you from working, you would have enough savings or a large Critical Illness insurance policy to sustain yourself? Thank you ALS Canada for all your support and dedication. https://secure.e2rm/registrant/mobile/mobilePersonalPage.aspx?registrationID=2538174&langPref=en-CA&Referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fm.facebook%2F https://youtube/watch?v=t-yadRGg_vM
