My son had already left for school that day, I was getting ready - TopicsExpress

My son had already left for school that day, I was getting ready for work. I heard something on the radio about a plane hitting the tower and ran to the living room to turn on the tv. I turned it on just in time to see the second plane hit the other tower. I knew immediately, deep in my heart, this was no accident. The horror of watching that plane hit will live with me forever. My son came home from school that day and told me that in every class, all day long, they just watched the news footage. He looked completely traumatized. I also knew, with absolute conviction, that my son would one day be fighting the war that began that day. I called my father that night and cried. Here we are, twelve years later. My son has been in the military now for more than five years, and has experienced things no mother would ever want her child to experience. I am blessed though, because I still have my son. I still ache for the parents who lost children, and children who lost parents on that horrible day.
