My son, my precious son, has been doing something lately that just astounds me. He does this thing were he just stares at me. MY son, with the attention span of a jumping bean, staring at ME? Whenever he focuses on ANYTHING, I get excited; but can you imagine the awkwardness of realizing I am the object of his attention? I dont say anything. He has to say something eventually, right? He does. Mom, are you crying? OMGoodness, has my son studied me long enough to figure out that I have learned to cry silently w/o tears? Does he see the sadness and loneliness in my eyes - the residue of the hurt from men who have claimed to be gentlemen but werent? IS IT POSSIBLE for a little boy to figure out what men cannot? (that it is in taking time to study her, he will learn to understand her). I am AWED AND AMAZED with this new found superpower my son has acquired... so much so that I realize my healing and my time will be better spent in REARING A GENTLEMAN than in finding one
