My spiritual and moral life take, as their starting point, that injustice and brutality have to be stopped. ~ Lierre Keith, co-author of the book Deep Green Resistance The war on women is not a metaphor. The war on the living land is not a metaphor. The war on Indigenous peoples is not a metaphor. The war on People of Color is not a metaphor. The war on the Poor is not a metaphor. The war on the Multiply Oppressed is not a metaphor. To effectively resist abusive power systems out there— in the prison system, on militarized borders, or during other clear encounters with authorities and other privileged classes —we must challenge how abusive power is reproduced right where we live, and we must dismantle domination & subordination in our private lives and practices. Its one thing when the perpetrator is the police, the state, or someone we dont know. Its quite another when that person is someone we call friend, lover, mentor, trusted ally. Or, our own self. This is why Deep Green Resistance is an uncompromisingly feminist and anti-racist organization. This is why Deep Green Resistance stands in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples, who have been undergoing ongoing cultural genocide in the U.S. since 1492 and Aboriginal Peoples such as the Kung!-San Bushmen of the Kalahari, and the tribes of first peoples of Australia who are being forced from their lands by corrupt governments and industrial exploitation. This film clip contains three scenes from Standing on Sacred Ground—in Australia, Papua New Guinea and Ethiopia. The culture of civlization asks What is the tangible value of sacred places? And demands materialistic, scientific proof. These three film scenes answer the question. youtu.be/m4qJNUYBnBU?list=UUVLGRF0duq0yrouFF_vQjTQ
