My sweet Nan Nan passed away yesterday morning. She lived quite an extraordinary life. She was kind, gentle and incredibly generous. She was a railroad heiress, an officers wife, a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, an elegant and graceful golfer and was one of the most organized people Ive ever met. She died peacefully and pain free and was surrounded by her loved ones in her final hours. For those that knew her, you know what a loss this is to our family. I cant imagine another as pure and sweet as she. I will miss the way she always smelled of Lily of the Valley. I will miss her calling me Jen-Boo and the way she would lightly touch her pearls when telling us her stories. I will miss the way she pronounced poem (poim), hurricane (hurry-cane) and daiquiri (dyke-aree). I will miss her Kennedy-eque accent that only slipped out when she was on Cape Cod. She was the epitome of grace and kindness. She will be sorely missed.
